Can You Turn Down the Noise? The spirituality of silence

Can You Turn Down the Noise?
The spirituality of silence.
By Dr. Wayne W. Dyer Published: October 23, 2009

Noise is a distraction to your highest self because it keeps your ego on red alert.

You live in a noisy world, constantly bombarded with loud music, construction equipment, jet airplanes, rumbling trucks, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, and tree cutters. These human-made, unnatural sounds invade your senses and keep silence at bay. In fact, you’ve been raised in a culture that not only eschews silence but is terrified of it. The car radio must be on, and any pause in conversation is a moment of embarrassment that most people quickly fill with chatter. For many, being alone is a nightmare, and being alone in silence is pure torture. The famous scientist Blaise Pascal observed, “All man’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone.”

Make a conscious decision to reduce the noise level of your life. Noise is a distraction to your highest self because it keeps your ego on red alert. Learn to take time each and every day for quiet contemplation: For example, when you’re driving alone, turn off the constant chatter bombarding your inner world. Then when you arrive at your destination, honor the OFF button on the TV remote—and honor the ON button for your highest self!

Try to make meditation a daily practice as well, even if it’s only for a few moments. All creation stems from the void, the great silence—this includes the creation of a new you devoid of self-defeating thinking habits and accompanying excuses. As Swami Sivananda reminded his devotees: “Silence is the language of God.” Mother Teresa described silence and its relationship to God by saying, “God is the friend of silence. See how nature—trees, grass, grow in silence; see the stars, the moon, and the sun, how they move in silence…. We need silence to be able to touch souls.” This includes your soul!

All creativity requires some stillness. Your sense of inner peace depends on spending some of your life energy in silence to recharge your battery, remove tension and anxiety, reacquaint you with the joy of knowing God, and feel closer to all humanity. Silence reduces fatigue and allows you to experience your own creative juices. Ask in silence, listen in silence, and let silence be the jumping-off point for becoming one with the creative force of the universe.

The Joyful Flow

The Joyful Flow
Good Vibrations
Feelings vibrate, just as all things in the universe do, at a particular frequency. Negative feelings like anger, guilt, and depression vibrate at low frequencies, while positive feelings like joy, appreciation, and passion vibrate at high frequencies. These high frequency vibrations make us feel good. This is why people and places that inspire and cultivate positive feelings have what we call good vibrations.

Good vibrations inspire health, happiness, and optimism. When we are tuned in to good vibrations, our bodies heal, our hearts open, and our minds shift toward the light. We see new possibilities and feel powerfully energized to follow our inner visions. At the same time, we feel relaxed and capable of manifesting these visions without giving in to stress or struggle. Good vibrations put us in a state of perfect receptivity so that we feel it is the energy flowing through us that accomplishes what needs to be done. We feel guided, supported, protected, and nourished within this joyful flow. We sometimes forget that we are allowed to feel this way all the time.

Lower frequency vibrations are not bad in a moral sense, but they are bad in the sense that they simply don’t feel good. Still, they have a purpose, which is to alert us to the fact that we are blocking out the higher frequency vibrations that we need to function well. They are a call for healing ourselves from within. The key to our healing lies in remembering that it is our birthright to feel good and that feeling good is the essence of our true nature. When we are receiving and sending out good vibrations, we are in the flow. When we are not, we can begin to raise our vibration by seeking out people, places, and situations that vibrate at a higher frequency. Whether we need to go on retreat or just call a friend who makes us laugh, seeking out those good vibrations and basking in them is a sacred and loving practice that returns us, time and again, to the joyful flow of the universe.

What is this all about?

Today as I simply reflect back over my life, I think man, God as been good to me. This universe has supported me in everything( Good or Bad) that I have thought or even dared to dream an is still providing as we speak. As I have now choosen to live my life on purpose and committed to help others do the same I see the hands of God open to me saying simply" What do you want, what do you need." You see I am no longer creating my life by default, yet I am living my life by design... instructing the Angels of God, speaking openly to the universe, using the law of attraction to my benefit instead of allowing it to just go. I spend time with my Angels and in silence simply giving them my dreams and desires.. You see because I am committed to enlighten the entire world and for me that is what this is all about...

Full Moon

What happens at the full Moon?:

The Full Moon is a culmination, a peak, and many people notice a spike in exuberance and activity at this time. The Sun and Moon are in opposite signs, and the qualities of both signs in which they fall are lit up with a current running between them.

What are some ways to engage with the Full Moon?:

If you've set intentions on the new Moon, the full Moon is the time for releasing them out to spirit. You might like to meditate on the new Moon intentions as the Moon grows brighter, adding power to them with your focus. The waxing Moon is a building up of energy, and a great time to cultivate something new in your life.

How does this work exactly?:

The key to working with planetary energies is understanding that you're a part of it all, too. As the Sun and Moon move through the signs, a forcefield of energy is cast down, engaging with your own unique astrological blueprint. In other words, "May the force be with you," and may you also Be with the force.

Staying intimately connected to this cosmic dance allows you to tune into subtle shifts and changes. Our intuitive selves experience these through dream images, spirit guidance, and soul yearnings. You go beyond awareness of your known self, so you can experience your spirit self and its possibilities.

What are intentions?:
Intentions are like wishes you send out, but you've got to take an active part in making them happen. You can call it a prayer, too. Whether we know it or not, we all have intentions, sometimes unconcious, that shape our experience. When you set intentions consciously, it makes you more present to the moment, able to jump on opportunities, cultivate contacts, and recognize divine serendipity.

Preparing for the full Moon.:

Each full Moon has a different intuitive feel, and any ritual you do could draw on the essence of the sign. As it approaches, you might gather photos, found objects, meaningful totems and place them with your intentions in a prominent place.

Time to Celebrate:

The full Moon often casts an exuberant vibe, making it a great time to have a party. This also opens the door for meaningful people to step into your life. But keep in mind that it can be intense, too. There's a reason why more patrolmen are sent out on full Moons! Take time to honor yourself in some way for any steps you took since the new Moon.

The Climax and the "Reveal":

Sometimes full Moons feel like the end of an Act in your ongoing life story. This is true both on the personal and the global scale. It's like in a movie where all the plot points are pulled together, and for a brief moment, you can see the interwoven whole. If you set intentions, the full Moon is a time when you begin to make out the path, and can take an exhilarating step forward. It is both a culmination and a time to act on something you've imagined. In the act of doing, you have brought an idea into reality, and made magic.
